Stark Deux in Front of the Orange Screen

Posted this on twitter a while ago, but...

Line art in Sakura micron 0.5 and 0.3

The orange acrylic is actually neon, but you can't tell in this photo.

Acrylic Mermaid

I haven't updated here in a while, but with restarting my main blog, I'm hoping to start up here again as well. Lately I've been doing various experiments with paints, but I don't have so much to show.

My roommates and I watched The Secret of Kells and the Song of the Sea last Sunday, and I wanted to keep my hands busy while watching, so this strange mermaid was the product of that.

Line art was done with sakura micron, all in a 0.5 because I was feeling lazy and couldn't find my pen case.

Coloring was done with acrylics.

About 6 hours, give or take.

BFFs

Would like to work on posing and shading. Still playing with copics, tho.

Kyu and Trois are bffs since high school.

Why is it so easy to draw in a regular notebook, where I get all perfectionist in a sketchbook? :/

coping with copics

Long time no update lol. My computer is kind of fucked up right now so it's a glorified mp3 player, so I've just been using my phone for everything. And for some reason it's difficult to blog from my phone.

But anyway, I'm playing with copics today and I suuuuuck. I got pretty good when I was at Waseda, but I just never use them anymore and I'm awful with colors to begin with... D:

I like black and white so much better, but I really want to be better at color. Colored work is just so much more encompassing that I feel it's a skill I need to hone.

Today I colored and drew this shitty picture of Kyu:

I fucked up everywhere on this one but wharever lol

In Waseda I did some decent copic stuff:

Nothing fancy but it didn't suck imho. I hate feeling like I'm going backwards. :/

ruki

So I said I was going to post this soon after the last post, but I wanted to make sure the recipient got the card first. Then I sort of got distracted and other things.

Anyway, alas here is another postcard in water colors, painted for a friend on instagram. Subject is Ruki of The GazettE.

Lulzy primary sketch below the actual shot (from a SHOXX).

Inked. I wasn't too sure what to do with this hair. Esp, since as you can see the
picture isn't so detailed, as it's quite dark. And detail is sort of my thing when
drawing...

Starting with lighter areas.

End result. I wasn't very pleased actually. I kind of like the drawing itself
(it's a little off, but meh), but I really wish I had kept to the mostly black
and made it a darker painting with only some highlights for the greens and
yellows. Next time, I guess.

Greyscale :D

antlers

Happy Monday. It's a lucky day off for me, so I wanted to make an update. I kind of got distracted from posting. Such a shame after just starting this thing. Oh well, let's get back on track.

A painting from a couple of days ago.

Lady with antlers and sort of messy up-do. Line-art in pencil.

Next, inked with Staedler pigment liner in 0.05.
Changed the position of the neck a bit.

I usually start pigmenting with the lightest area, in this case the face.
Using some kind of cheap watercolors from an old high school art set,
they can get kind of chalky when dried. :/

Finished.

I originally thought to do more browns in this, but then that felt a little too normal. So now she's a cotton candy colored deer girl.

I came up with this after looking through some instagrammers under the #watercolors hashtag. I'm trying to screenshot some recs on my twitter and maybe on here of interesting art/artists I stumble across.

I painted another card after this for an instagram friend/fellow Six Gun, of a very a special someone (haha), so I will try to post that one tomorrow.

Cheers!
