ruki
So I said I was going to post this soon after the last post, but I wanted to make sure the recipient got the card first. Then I sort of got distracted and other things.
Anyway, alas here is another postcard in water colors, painted for a friend on instagram. Subject is Ruki of The GazettE.

Lulzy primary sketch below the actual shot (from a SHOXX).
Inked. I wasn't too sure what to do with this hair. Esp, since as you can see the
picture isn't so detailed, as it's quite dark. And detail is sort of my thing when
drawing...
Starting with lighter areas.
End result. I wasn't very pleased actually. I kind of like the drawing itself
(it's a little off, but meh), but I really wish I had kept to the mostly black
and made it a darker painting with only some highlights for the greens and
yellows. Next time, I guess.
Greyscale :D

antlers
Happy Monday. It's a lucky day off for me, so I wanted to make an update. I kind of got distracted from posting. Such a shame after just starting this thing. Oh well, let's get back on track.
A painting from a couple of days ago.
A painting from a couple of days ago.
Lady with antlers and sort of messy up-do. Line-art in pencil.
Next, inked with Staedler pigment liner in 0.05.
Changed the position of the neck a bit.
I usually start pigmenting with the lightest area, in this case the face.
Using some kind of cheap watercolors from an old high school art set,
they can get kind of chalky when dried. :/
Finished.
I originally thought to do more browns in this, but then that felt a little too normal. So now she's a cotton candy colored deer girl.
I came up with this after looking through some instagrammers under the #watercolors hashtag. I'm trying to screenshot some recs on my twitter and maybe on here of interesting art/artists I stumble across.
I painted another card after this for an instagram friend/fellow Six Gun, of a very a special someone (haha), so I will try to post that one tomorrow.
Cheers!

#001
My first entry in this sketchblog, so I feel I should start out with a small introduction. My name is Sarah, though I often go by a pseudonym osara, which translates from Japanese as dish. I am an American living and working in Osaka, Japan, and though my job isn't in the field of art, it's my goal to improve my skills and hopefully make a place for myself in the professional field as an artist one day.
This blog isn't meant to be some kind of professional portfolio, it's just an outlet and motivator for me to work on my skills by updating as frequently as possible. Just a warning, many shots may be instagram shots.
Cheers,
dish

Just some graphic thing I drew today while watching Happy Days.
